NTNC Wildlife Technician Awarded Amidst 22nd Wildlife Week Celebrations

Mr. Tirtha Lama from NTNC was honored during the final day of the Wildlife Week celebrations on April 20 held at the Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation (DNPWC) central office in Baburmahal, Kathamandu. As an ever-active wildlife technician at the Biodiversity Conservation Center in Sauraha (NTNC-BCC), Mr. Lama's unfettered commitment to wildlife conservation would undoubtedly help heighten a greater resolve  and inspiration—especially among the youth attendees at the event. The recognition was awarded by the chief guest of the program Mr. Dirgha Raj Bhat, Hon. State Minister of the Ministry of Forest and Soil Conservation (MoFSC). A total of sixteen similar awards were provided to various other personalities who have consistently contributed to a healthier wildlife making in the country.

Some other notable personalities at the program involved members from the National Planning Commission and MoFSC, Miss Nepal Winners 2016 (Earth and Asia Pacific categories), academics and other dignitaories, including the Director General of DNPWC and the Member Secretary of NTNC. The audience, comprising mostly of school students, started with an early morning rally and later with a poetry session specifically dedicated to the occasion. Maintaining a youth-focused theme this year,  the 22nd Wildlife Week celebrations also involved  prize distributions made to about thirteen students actively leading the resolve to nature conservation in their respective schools and communities.
