A half-day workshop on Strengthening the Institutional Capacity of SAWEN was conducted today on January 17, 2018 under the Chairing of the Director General of the Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation (DNPWC) Mr. Man Bahadur Khadka. During the occasion attendees from across major wildlife and conservation-related institutions of Nepal (from both government and non-government) engaged one another on two major developments: one, about “Developing Public Awareness Strategy, Communication Plan and a Regional Communication Mechanism” and another concerning the “Mapping of Wildlife Trade Routes in SAWEN Member Countries”. The diverse opinions and views drawn from the workshop are expected to further inform and enhance SAWEN’s role as a prominent regional capacity for controlling illegal wildlife crime. NTNC is working with the SAWEN Secretariat with the aim to institutionalize SAWEN.
