Taking stock of the proposed programmes and activities for the new fiscal year 2018-19 (BS 2075-76), the NTNC Governing Board of Trustees successfully concluded proceedings today morning (on 27 July, 2018) at its Central Office in Khumaltar, Lalitpur. The meeting was chaired by the Hon. Minister for Forests and Environment (MOFE), Mr. Shakti Bahadur Basnet, who is also Chairman of NTNC. Other Trustees in attendance included Dr. Bishwa Nath Oli - Secretary MOFE, Representative from the Finance Ministry, Dr. Giri Raj Tripathi, Mr. Saral Sahayatri Paudel, Mr. Ram Raj Regmi, Ms. Meena Kumari Neupane, Ms. Swati Thapa and Mr. Govinda Gajurel - Member Secretary NTNC. At the meeting were also present NTNC’s Executive Directors Dr. Siddhartha Bajra Bajracharya and Mr. Deepak Kumar Singh, and Programme Director Ms. Sarita Gyawali.
The proceedings took off by briefing attendees about highlights from the previous fiscal year 2017-18 (BS 2074-75). Thereafter they took to deliberations about the Trust’s programmes and activities proposed to be implemented during the new fiscal year 2018-19, that commenced from July 17, 2018.
Proposed programmes for this year looks to maintain priority in accordance to NTNC’s new Strategic Plan (2018-22) that has revised its focus into six new Thematic Areas: (1) Species, (2) Protected Areas and Ecosystem, (3) Conservation Economy, (4) Climate Change, (5) Environmental Education, Research and Knowledge Management, and, (6) Cross-cutting (consisting of Governance, and Gender Equity and Social Inclusion). The Chairman emphasized on the need for more strategic thinking to take NTNC to newer heights.
