Students from the University of Newcastle, Australia, have concluded their two-week study visit to Nepal.
Between November 24 and December 07, seventeen undergraduates from the university’s School of Environmental and Life Sciences, led by Professor Matthew Hayward, were hosted by NTNC to classroom and field sessions, designed as part of their academic coursework.
Students spent their time between Chitwan (lowland-focused) and Annapurna (mountain-focused), where they got to directly experience and learn from conservation actions and stakeholders on the ground.
The short course is designed to expose overseas students to community-based conservation approaches, wildlife research and participatory conservation practices in Nepal. In addition to purposing cross-learning, the exchange opens possibilities for building knowledge collaboration and innovation.
At the farewell and certificate distribution, organized on the last day in Kathmandu, students had the opportunity to interact with the Minster for Forests and Environment and Chairman of NTNC Hon’ble Ain Bahadur Shahi Thakuri, together with the Australian Ambassador to Nepal Her Excellency Leann Johnston, and the NTNC Member-Secretary Dr. Naresh Subedi.
