Low carbon development is one of NTNC's guiding principal which is complimented by climate mitigation activities. Since its inception, NTNC has given priority on improving land use, promotion of clean energy, particularly reducing emissions through improved cooking stoves, solar power and micro/pico hydropower construction. One such example is the establishment of the first model biogas village of Nepal in Kumroj, Chitwan where NTNC supported households to shift from traditional methods of fuel wood based cooking to a more climate-friendly bio-gas system. Through massive plantations in its project areas, NTNC has contributed in increasing forest cover and carbon sequestration in Nepal. Through our forest nurseries spread across the country, NTNC has been providing saplings of fodder, fuel and multi-purpose trees that has not only contributed in climate change mitigation but also in improving local livelihood.
