NTNC and the Nature and Biodiversity Conservation Union (NABU) have signed an agreement for Fostering Human-Snow Leopard Coexistence through Conflict Mitigation and Sustainable Tourism in Nepal’s Central Snow Leopard Conservation Landscape, which include the Annapurna Conservation Area and the Manaslu Conservation Area.

The project will help enhance community awareness and coexistence capacities, implement strategies to mitigate human-snow leopard conflict and strengthen community participation, conduct research and monitoring of snow leopard and its prey base, and promote snow leopard-based tourism as a sustainable livelihood alternative.

NTNC will implement this project focusing on building on its community-driven solutions, furthering snow leopard conflict mitigation strategies, and developing sustainable initiatives that contribute to improved conservation capacities and local livelihoods.

The agreement was signed by NTNC Member-Secretary Dr. Naresh Subedi and NABU CEO Ingo Ammermann, and is due up to the end-of-2026.
