Following the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Government of Nepal on January 27, management responsibility of the Annapurna Conservation Area has been made to NTNC for one additional year. The decision comes in response to NTNC-ACAP's five-year tenure recently ending on Magh 03 (January 17).

Earlier this month, a stakeholder consultation meeting between lawmakers and leaders from all three levels of government—federal, province, and local level—was organized in Pokhara to incorporate feedbacks and find a way forward for the future management of the conservation area. The twelve month extension period proposes to fulfil necessary policy and regulation-related gaps, arising from the country's federal transition, until a sound modality for the area's management is in place.
