Today NTNC Chairperson Dr. Madhav Bahadur Karki made his first visit to NTNC's central office since his appointment by the Rt. Hon'ble Prime Minister of Nepal Sher Bahadur Deuba earlier on Friday October 01. The Rt. Hon'ble Prime Minister is also the Patron of NTNC.

A welcome event was organized to mark the occasion, where the incumbent met with the NTNC Member Secretary Mr. Sharad Chandra Adhikary, along with NTNC's senior management team and officers. 

Officially taking office as NTNC Chairman, Dr. Karki was briefed about NTNC and its current status of projects and programmes, NTNC's post-COVID-19 position, and its future plans and priorities.

Dr. Karki noted pleasure on his new association saying that he was "knowledgeable about NTNC's special status and credibility" and was looking forward to advance the conservation legacy of the institution to newer heights. 

Dr. Karki is a natural resource management and environment expert with over 40 years of professional experience covering wide-ranging roles and affiliations. He is an Expert Member of Nepal’s Environment Protection Council (EPC), and the Chair of the IUCN Commission on Ecosystem Management (CEM). He is one of the 25 members of the Multidisciplinary Expert Panel of the Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem (IPBES) of the UN representing Asia region, has over a 100-plus professional publications, and is the Founder and Executive Director of the more recently established non-profit Centre for Green Economy Development, Nepal (CGED-Nepal).
