A virtual meeting of the NTNC Governing Board of Trustees was conducted on September 21 via zoom. The meeting was organized to welcome the recent appointment of NTNC's international board members—the Hon. William Stonor, who is also the Chairperson of the UK Trust for Nature Conservation in Nepal, and Drs. Cas F. de Stoppelaar, who is the Honorary Consul General of Nepal to the Netherlands.
The meeting was chaired by the NTNC Chairman Dr Krishna Prasad Oli. Other board member participants included, Mr Shambu Prasad Dangal, Dr Shubh Narayan Mahato, Ms Rekha Ghimire, and the NTNC Member Secretary Mr Sharad Chandra Adhikary.
Along with familiarizing the new board members about NTNC's four decades in conservation, the meeting discussed about future opportunities for expanding NTNC's partnership and collaboration with credible international donors, research institutions, conservation networks and forums. The international Trustees expressed admiration and appreciation over their future affiliation to NTNC's growth story. Among other discussions, they emphasized on the role of strengthening research to reduce human-wildlife conflict in Nepal.
Provision for appointment of international persons into the NTNC Board has been made by the National Trust for Nature Conservation Act 1982, clause 5 (d).
