The 60th Governing Board of Trustees meeting was held today at the NTNC Central Office. The meeting was chaired by the NTNC Chairperson Dr Krishna Prasad Oli. Trustees in attendance included the Ministry of Forests and Environment Secretary Dr Pem Narayan Kandel, Mr Shambu Prasad Dangal, Dr Shubh Narayan Mahato, Dr Bijay Kumar Singh Danuwar, Ms Meena Kumari Neupane, Ms Rekha Ghimire, together with the NTNC Member Secretary Mr Sharad Chandra Adhikary.
Among the main meeting agenda was the endorsing of the NTNC annual programme budget for the fiscal year 2021-22 (BS 2078-79) along with discussing the roadmap ahead in the face of the COVID-19 crisis. In response to the ongoing COVID-19 situation, discussions were focused on keeping a low profile of activities, in a way that ensures NTNC's conservation and community development programmes are not adversely affected, along with focus on programme implementation safety.
The Board consent for commencing operations of NTNC's newest project-level office, the Koshi Tappu Conservation Programme, focusing on eastern Nepal, was also endorsed. Prospects and preparations for new projects at NTNC like Green Climate Fund (GCF) and Illegal Wildlife Trade (IWT) in Chitwan and Bardia, were also discussed.
NTNC's annual budget for the fiscal year 2021-22 of NPR 480 million has been approved by the Board.
