This notice is in response to multiple queries and a want for clarity communicated about the trekking status in the NTNC-managed conservation areas—Annapurna Conservation Area (ACA) Manaslu Conservation Area (MCA) and Gaurishankar Conservation Area (GCA).

Interested individuals/groups/organizations are advised that major trekking routes in ACA, MCA and GCA are formally open to international and national trekkers, fully from 14 January 2021. The decision to reopen completely after almost ten months of total closure has been made by the respective local tourism and hotel management committees and stakeholders in collaboration with Rural Municipalities and Wards by adopting the Covid-19 health and safety protocols of the Government of Nepal.

However due to the winter seasonal migration in Upper Mustang (ACA), most hotels/lodges/teahouses are currently closed. Trekkers are therefore advised to make prior bookings with hotels/lodge/teahouse owners if planning to do the Upper Mustang Trek. Additionally in the Annapurna Base Camp trekking route, accommodation facilities above Deurali are currently not in operation. Trekkers planning to do the base camp trek will need to return to Deurali on the same day.

Compulsory masks and physical distancing by trekkers are required to be maintained, including following local hotel management safety regulations.

Thank you,

Management
