Record of a Tiger Panthera tigris (Linnaeus, 1758) (Mammalia: Carnivora: Felidae) in Saptari District of eastern Nepal: implications for conservation and habitat connectivity

On 3 March 2025, a female Tiger Panthera tigris was recorded in Saptari District of southeastern Nepal. This individual had entered Fattepur, a village adjoining the Trijuga Forest. It was rescued by a team of veterinary and wildlife technicians and subsequently released in Parsa National Park. The occurrence of a tiger outside a protected area underscores the need to assess dispersal pattern, habitat connectivity, and implications for the conservation of the Tiger beyond the Terai Arc Landscape in Nepal.
